Verner Panton Pre-production S-chair no. 275, 1956

Rare Pre-production S-chair model no. 275 from 1956 by Verner Panton. Sculptural multi curved plywood with surface in clear varnished beech. This is an exceptional version; it's made of 9 mm thick laminated wood and has a flat base, it has two layers of veneer: the top and back. Furthermore the edges varies from the later model; they are flat instead of rounded. Literature: von Vegesack, Alexander & Remmele, Mathias, Verner Panton das Gesamtwerk, Weil am Rhein 2000, Abb. The construction of the chair is very strong and can still be used without any problems, the veneer shows beautiful grain and has a wonderful warm patina. Highly collectible object in excellent original condition.
